Dear SOLVO Customer,

SOLVO Biotechnology is happy to announce that, as a result of our recent development efforts, we have expanded our portfolio with two new rat Mrp2 membrane vesicle products:

SB-ratMrp2-Sf9-ATPase - reagent for ATPase assay
SB-ratMrp2-Sf9-VT - reagent for Vesicular Transport assay

Studies of compounds in parallel with both human MRP2 and rat Mrp2 membrane assays open a new opportunity in ADMET. According to the data generated at SOLVO on a small compound set, in case of some compounds, there are significant differences in the kinetics of interaction with human MRP2 and rat Mrp2 (manuscript in preparation).

We attached our updated Membrane Product Catalogue and Fee-For-Service Screening Catalogue for your review. For further information please check our detailed Assay Protocols and Sample Datasheets at our recently updated website: www.solvo.com

Suggested pharmacological applications for rat Mrp2 assays include examination of the interaction of pharmacological agents with rat Mrp2, to predict penetration through different pharmacological barriers (hepato-biliary secretion, kidney secretion) of the rat.

The rat Mrp2 transporter is the rat homologue of the human MRP2 transporter. The human MRP2 appears to be a key transporter of anionic drug conjugates and anionic compounds, e.g. antibiotics, anti-inflammatory agents, diuretics, etc. in the liver and kidney proximal tubules. This protein may also be involved in cancer drug resistance. (Konig et al., 1999, Borst and Elferink, 2002, Meier et al., 1997).

Rats deficient in Mrp2 expression due to a naturally occurring mutation (TR-) are used extensively in studies to determine the role of the human MRP2 transporter in the ADMET properties of pharmacological agents. The purified membrane vesicles offer a new, better-defined system for such studies.

We hope to hear from you at your earliest convenience.

With Kindest Regards,

The SOLVO Transporter Assay Team:
