In vivo microdialysis in rats
Expanding the in vitro and ex vivo PREDISCREEN service portfolio, SOLVO is now introducing in vivo microdialysis services.
In vivo microdialysis monitors drug distribution at peripheral tissue sites and the penetration of various agents across the blood brain barrier (BBB). This technology is used for:
- measuring unbound drug and metabolite concentrations in the interstitial space in brain and peripheral tissues including blood,
- continuous monitoring of neurotransmitter release to various stimuli,
- measuring concentrations of many analytes associated with tissue damage in CNS and in various organs.
P-gp (MDR1) and BCRP are the two most important efflux transporters at the BBB. We use specific inhibitors for Mdr1 and Bcrp to determine their contribution to limit the penetration of a compound into the brain tissue.
Microdialysis assays available from SOLVO:
- Determination of brain penetration of test molecules in rats
- Determination of test molecule interactions with transporters: substrate / inhibitor
- Determination of brain penetration of test molecules and simultaneous monitoring of neurotransmitter release in specified brain regions
SOLVO's new microdialysis service is an integral part of our BBB package. The package consists of an assortment of cross-validated in vivo and in vitro tools to study drug-transporter and/or drug-drug interactions at this important barrier.

New MRP1 PREDIVEZ™ Vesicular Transport Kit
A new member of the PREDIVEZ™ vesicular transport kit product family will be available from October 2008. The MRP1 (ABCC1) assay kit operates with fluorescent bimane-glutathion (B-GS) probe (reporter) substrate. For details of the fluorescent kits please click here.
