ATPase Assays
Description
The ATPase assay is an ideal, cost effective assay to identify interaction between test compounds and ABC transporters. The assay is performed on isolated cell membranes expressing the transporter of interest. The ATPase assay is unique in that it can distinguish between an inhibitor and a substrate in one assay (one plate). Moreover, the assay works independently from the passive permeability of the test compound, in contrast to cellular assays like MDCKII monolayers. Due to its low costs and simple design the ATPase assay is suitable for screening large numbers of compounds in a relatively short time.
