SOLVO Transporter Symposium & Training

May 22, 2008

SOLVO Biotechnology organized it’s first SOLVO Transporter Symposium and Training between May 22-23 in Budapest. Over a 100 people attended the symposium from 17 countries, including countries as far as Japan, Canada, China and Brazil. Speakers and participants were representing both academia, biotech and industry providing an excellant interface for discussions, networking, meeting people and getting an indepth overview of the latest novelties of the transporter technology. On the first day top leader scientists gave lectures covering the fields of multidrug resistance, the assay systems, drug absorbtion and blood-brain-barrier models as well as hepatic drug transport studies. The presentations were non-conventional, rather thought evoking and provocative, in search of new approaches to deal with the challenges related to drug-transporter interactions that the Pharma Industy and the academic world are facing. The second day was also a long one for participants attending the training sessions at the Budaörs site of SOLVO Biotchnology. They could join the demonstartions on 4 types of assays consisting of membrane and cellular based transporter assays. According to feed-backs participants were particularly satisfied with the quality of the lectures and the competence of SOLVO scientist conducting the lab demonstrations.
